Huckleberry Festival Duathlon and Run/walk 2016


It is time to get geared up and ready to go! The 2nd Annual North Powder Huckleberry Festival Run/bike, Run is just around the corner. Come join us for this fun even Saturday July 30, 2016 in North Powder. Our event will start with the Duathlon. At 8 am our bikers will head off on their 12 mile bike ride from the North Powder fire station to Wolf Creek Reservoir and back where they will put on their running shoes and head out on their 5k run. Once the bikes have headed out we will start the 10k, 5k and 1 mile run/walk events. All of which are out and back events. Starting and ending at the North  Powder Fire Station. 

This is a family friendly event. This year we changed our prices up a bit. Here is the run down. 

1 mile
Everyone is $10

5k
12 and under $10
12 and up  $20

10k
12 and under $10
12 and up $20

Duathlon 
12 and under $20
12 and up $45 teams of 2 $20 each

Every participant will receive a t-shirt! And once again there will be prizes for the top 3 men and women in the 5k, 10k, and Duathlon. 

Also another perk we have this year is we have joined with raceentry.com for our online registration. When you register on line you have the opportunity to share our event on Facebook with a referral link. for every referral you send our way you will receive up to $3 off your personal entry fee.

Triathon is now a Duathlon , 5k, 10k, and 1mile

Due to the lack of water this year we are unable to do our triathlon. But we are excited to bring you a Duathlon with a 1mile, 5k, and 10k run/walk.

All of our races will start at the North Powder fire station on 3rd street. We will then run our Oregon Trail Rd. The Bike portion will go up to Wolf Creek Reservoir and return to the station where they will then transition to run the 5k.

The 1mile 5k 10k will all go out Oregon trail Rd and back to the fire station.

Please be sure to pre register by July 1st to be guaranteed a t-shirt and to avoid late fees.

We are really excited for this event and to share a bit of our beautiful little town with all who come. Along the run you will have a wonderful view of the Elk horns and the Eagle Caps.
 
When you are finished with you run please be sure to hang around and take part in some of the other festivities going on for our Huckleberry Festival.  With a breakfast at the school, parade, vendors, Mud volleyball and much more. Ending the evening with the Firemen BBQ.

The Huckleberry Festival Sprint Triathlon is Set for July 25th 2015. This is going to be a half mile swim, 11.7 mile bike ride with 3.5 miles of gravel, and a 5 k run.  We will start with the first wave of racers at 8:30 then the next every 5 min. Registration starts at 7am at Pilcher Creek Reservoir.

We want this event to be one for anyone that wants to join in. So we have opened this for individuals and teams of 2-3 people. You can one person for each leg or work it our for 2 people to have one do 2 legs and the other to do the one leg.

This is a Point to point race Everyone ending in North Powder. We will be doing total overall times. If you want your each leg times it will be up to you. Because this is a point to point race we will provide a bag with a name and or number on each bag to place your items in when you transition from swim to bikes. I will have it arranged to get them down to the end of the race. If you can it would be great to have your own arrangements to get picked up or to go get your rig from the starting point. If you have no option we can arrange a shuttle to get you back up there. We don't want anyone to be detoured for this reason.

The cost of our events is:

Register by June 10th:  Individuals $45        Teams $90

After June 10th: Individuals $55                Teams $100

Equipment requirements:

I am requiring that each contestant has a swim cap. please have it be in a light bright color. This is for personal safety in the water. We want to be able to spot everyone in the water and heaven for bid something happen help us to spot someone under the water.

You must have a bike helmet. By law and by my rules.

Please take in to consideration the 3.5 miles of gravel you will be biking in when you are choosing the bike you bring to ride.

We want this event to be fun and run smoothly. This will be an open course. Please obey the rules of the road and watch for cars. There is one bad corner and the down hill stretch. Please take note of it when you drive up to the starting point.

Please NO riding your bike out of or in to the Transition areas.

Huckleberry Festival Sprint Triathlon

The Huckleberry Festival is excited to announce their First annual Sprint Triathlon.  We are hosting our first triathlon in hopes to bring a new event to this area. We feel this event will be a great way to explore the Powder Valley. We will start with our open water swim at the Pilcher Creek Reservoir, then transition to your bike for a 11.7 mile ride through the beautiful valley, in which  you will be starting out on a stretch of gravel road with a good down grade hill, back to our little country town of North Powder where you will then get ready for your 5k run. With all of it ending back in North Powder.

 This is an event that will be for all levels of competitors. We want anyone who wants to be able to participate. We also are opening this for individuals as well as teams.

The proceeds from this event will go to North Powder Charter school to help fund new play equipment for the grade school.

Our event is going to be held On July 25, 2015. Time and Cost TBA.


Once you have finished with your triathlon you can stick around for some more of the festivities going on in town. There is the school breakfast, parade, venders, car show, kids games, and ending the evening with the North Powder Rural Fire Dept. BBQ dinner.
